Gunaratnakarana Chaturgunagalu

The glory of Lord Śrī Hari, as described in the Vedas and Śāstras, is immeasurable and infinite. Although the entirety of His divine attributes is beyond the grasp of the human intellect, the scriptures instruct us to constantly contemplate at least some of His infinite qualities. Jagadguru Śrī Madhvacharya succinctly teaches this through the statement:

"Sat–Cit–Ānand–Ātmeti Brahmopāsāviśiṣṭā."

The essence of this teaching is that one should meditate upon Lord Hari as:

Sat – the One completely free from all defects,
Cit – the embodiment of perfect knowledge,
Ānanda – the fullness of eternal bliss, and
Ātman – the Supreme Lord and eternal Master of all beings.

According to the Dvaita tradition, the qualities contemplated in the Supreme Lord (Bimba) are gradually reflected in the individual soul (Pratibimba). Therefore, the contemplation of these four sublime attributes plays a vital role in spiritual purification and the attainment of liberation (Mokṣa).
