The Śrī Rāghavendra Stotra, composed by Śrī Appaṇṇācārya, is one of the most revered and widely recited hymns in the Mādhva tradition. It is difficult to find a devotee of Śrī Rāghavendra Tīrtha who does not include this sacred stotra in their daily prayers. It is firmly believed that Guru Rāghavendra bestows his grace even upon those who recite the hymn with devotion without fully understanding its meaning. However, recitation accompanied by contemplation on its meaning (arthānusandhāna), along with devotional practices such as pradakṣiṇā and namaskāra, is said to invoke his special blessings.
Śrī Rāghavendra Stotra – Chintana Manthana is a unique and insightful study of this celebrated hymn. True to its title, Chintana (Reflection) and Manthana (Contemplation), the work explores the profound meanings and subtle philosophical insights contained in every verse of the stotra.
The book explains the multiple meanings of important words, presents detailed discussions on various scriptural and philosophical concepts, and enriches the reader's understanding by drawing upon the compositions of great Haridāsa saints such as Śrī Gopāla Dāsa and Śrī Jagannātha Dāsa. It also incorporates valuable references from the Mahābhārata, Rāmāyaṇa, and numerous Purāṇas, making it a rich resource for both devotees and students of Dvaita philosophy.
By combining devotional fervour with scriptural scholarship, this work enables readers to appreciate the deeper significance of the Śrī Rāghavendra Stotra and to cultivate a more meaningful and contemplative mode of worship.
