About this book

Jijñāsādhikaraṇa -- From the passage beginning with “Nārāyaṇa-praṇāmasyaiva Guru-praṇāmasyāpi” to the sentence “Bhaved ayaṃ granthakṛto'bhiprāyaḥ”, with Pratipadārtha (word-by-word meaning) and the salient features of the commentaries Sannyāyaratnāvalī, Nyāyacandrikā, Anuvyākhyāna-Sambandhadīpikā, Parimala, Vākyārthacandrikā, Kāśī Ṭippaṇi, Śrīnidhitīrthīya, Kuṇḍalagirīya, Ānanda, and other traditional annotations.

Śrī Kambālūru Rāmacandra Tīrtha, revered as one of the foremost Sampradāya Pravartakas of Śrī Vyāsarāja Maṭha, authored several distinguished works, among which the Śrīmannyāyasudhā Ṭippaṇi occupies a place of special importance.

In this edition, Vidwan Krishnacharya has presented a lucid Kannada translation of the significant discussions found in the Kāśī Ṭippaṇi and several other traditional annotations, particularly those not explained elsewhere. Alongside the translation, he has undertaken a critical and analytical study by drawing upon authoritative works such as the Patañjali Mahābhāṣya, Vākyapadīya, Prakriyā Kaumudī, and Kāśikāvṛtti.

The discussions relating to Pūrva Mīmāṃsā have been examined in the light of the Śābara Bhāṣya, Mīmāṃsānukramaṇikā, Bhāṭṭa Saṅgraha, and other classical works. Likewise, references from the Gautama Nyāya Sūtras, Vātsyāyana Bhāṣya, Muktāvalī, and Gadādhara Bhaṭṭa's Vyutpattivāda have been carefully analysed and incorporated wherever relevant.

The editor has also reproduced the complete texts of the Vedic mantras, verses from the Bhāgavata Purāṇa, and other scriptural citations referred to in the traditional annotations, together with their contextual explanations. In addition, the work provides word-by-word meanings (Pratipadārtha) of passages from both the Anuvyākhyāna and the Nyāyasudhā, followed by clear expositions of their philosophical import. Combining the insights of numerous traditional commentaries with critical analysis and lucid translation, this volume serves as an invaluable reference for students, researchers, teachers, and scholars of Dvaita Vedānta.
